Washington (US), January 28: Google, the American technology conglomerate, has announced that the Chrome for Android browser will get a new feature that will allow users to lock Incognito tabs when they exit the app.

According to GSM Arena, a tech news website, a new privacy setting allows users to unlock these tabs with a screen lock, such as biometric information, a PIN, or a pattern. This new feature is extremely simple. When a user opens Chrome and wants to use the Incognito tabs after the phone has been locked, a prompt will appear on the screen to use your preferred screen unlock method and verify you have access. According to GSM Arena, the public tabs will remain public.

The feature is extremely useful for devices shared by multiple people where it is not desirable for others to know what is being browsed. This is the closest Chrome for Android has come to having separate profiles for different users.

According to GSM Arena, Google stated that the feature is still being rolled out, so some users may have to wait a little longer. The company announced the update while also providing some tips on how to stay safe on Chrome for Data Privacy Day, which is tomorrow, January 28.
