SC to hear Delhi Polices' plea against tractor march on Jan 20

Supreme Court held its hearing of farmers issue today. Court also discussed the application filed by Delhi Police seeking a direction to put an injunction on the proposed tractor rally on Republic Day. Kisan Andolan : Supreme Court Hearing Farmers Tractor march The court said that it is the responsibility of the police to maintain law and order in the capital and it is up to Delhi Police to decide who should be allowed to enter Delhi. Supreme Court stated, "The question of entry into Delhi is a law and order situation that is to be determined by Police." Attorney General KK Venugopal, appearing for Centre, says that tractor rally by farmers will be illegal & there will likely be an entry of 5000 people in Delhi. In a petition filed in the Supreme Court, the Delhi Police had sought a stay on the farmers' tractor march on January 26. The Delhi Police has cited law and order for this. The farmers' organizations had also released their complete plan for the tractor march. Even before the hearing in the Supreme Court, the farmers' organizations had said that no one could stop the tractor march. They said that they have made all preparations. The United Kisan Morcha on Sunday announced the route of the tractor march. The march will encircle Delhi's Outer Ring Road and the Republic Day parade will not be disrupted. The tractor march will be completely peaceful and each tractor will have a tricolor and a flag of a farmers' organization.
