SAD to organise protest rally on 7th October in Patiala The Shiromani Akali Dal will hold  a state-level Anti Repression ( Jabar Virodhi Rally) at Patiala on October 7 to highlight and protest against the brutal murder of democracy by "the unholy coalition between the Congress party and the state machinery who functioned like a clan of gangsters during the just concluded Zila Paishad and Samiti elections in the state.  "The SPs, DC, SDMs, and Tehsildars functioned as Congress election workers in this mockery of democracy," said a Resolution at the SAD Core Committee meeting here today. The meeting was chaired by the SAD president Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal and was attended among others by the party's patron-in-chief Parkash SIngh Badal." We waited for Captain Amarinder SIngh to announce a date for his boast of rally at Lambi. But he has clearly run out of steam. So people are coming to Patiala,"said Mr Sukhbir SIngh Badal after the meeting. Giving details of the decisions taken at the meeting, Principal Spokesperson of the party, Mr. Harcharan Bains said that apart from highlighting the repression in the poll , the rally would also focus on  putting pressure on the government to solve the problems being faced by the people.  " Punjab is reeling under a corrupt, indifferent and non-performing government which has gone back on all the promises made to the people during the campaign for the February 2017 assembly poll and has brought governance,  development and social welfare activity in the state to a screeching halt.   The rally would be the first in a series of initiatives by SAD to enforce accountability on the ruling party on its refusal to honour its manifesto commitment to  completely waive the farmers and the farm labourers' debt, raise the Shagun scheme amount to Rs 51000, old age pension to Rs. 2500 per month, free sugar and tea for those covered under the atta daal scheme, one job each for every household in the state,  free houses and 5 marla plots to every poor family,  free mobile phones to the poor, waiving of loan upto Rs 50,000 for the Dalit families and many other commitments," said the Core Committee resolution. The Core Committee said that the Congress' resort to the illegal and immoral means to win civic poll  clearly proved that they   knew about the people's wrath against them and tried to sabotage people's verdict  with a five-fold attack. They first resorted to mass cancellations of nomination papers, then cast fake votes en masse, then  captured booths, and on counting day, threw our party agents out. But still unable to secure a verdict in their favour, they finally declared defeated Congress candidates as winners, at many places even altering the verdict after the declarations, "  said the SAD Core Committee Resoution.   In another major decision, the SAD as a party decided  to commence the preparations for the celebrations of the 550th Parkash utsav of the Shri Guru nanak Dev ji by organising a  Kirtan Darbar and Dharmik Samagam, at Sultanpur Lodhi on the evening of  Novmber 17 his year. Eminent exponents of Gurbani  and alongwith celebrated Raagis  will recite hymns from Gurbani to spiritually enlighten and enthrall the devotees in the evening, said Mr.Bains. The Core Committee also decided to approach the Union Government to request to approach its Pakistani counterpart in order to secure the inclusion of Kartarpur Sahib shrine into India in exchange for a mutually agreed  piece of land elsewhere along the border.
