SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia's anticipatory bail plea dismissed
Mohali, January 24: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia in drugs case. The order was passed by Justice Lisa Gill after hearing final arguments on his anticipatory bail plea. The SAD leader was booked by the Punjab Police under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the SAS Nagar police station on the basis of a 2018 report submitted by the anti-drug Special Task Force (STF). Notably, the High Court's decision is a major jolt to Bikram Singh Majithia as it comes a day before the process of filing nomination papers for the Punjab polls. [/caption] Also read | Punjab elections 2022: BJP to contest 65 seats, ally Captain Amarinder's party 37Earlier, at the time of being granted interim anticipatory bail, he was asked to keep his cellphone constantly on and share with the investigating agency his live location through WhatsApp. He was also directed to fully cooperate in the investigation and abide by the conditions, including appearance before the investigating agency as and when required. Bikram Singh Majithia had earlier slammed Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and other Congress state ministers alleging a "conspiracy" to frame him to save themselves.
