Impact of SAD: For the first time in 6 years, 6 GoI ministers brief media after passing a bill in Rajya Sabha

For the past few days, there has been outrage among people of India over the three Agriculture-related bills. Unfortunately, the outrage led to a major ruckus in the Rajya Sabha during the Monsoon session of the Parliament on Sunday when several opposition parties protested inside the Upper House. Meanwhile, the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and other Union Ministers addressed the media in Delhi on Sunday. This is for the first time in 6 years, that 6 Government of India (GoI) ministers addressed a press conference after passing a bill and Prime Minister repeated his tweet. This is the effect of Shiromani Akali Dal. Also, the Harsimrat Kaur Badal, wife of SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal, resigned from the designation of Union Minister of Food Processing. In fact, the SAD president, on Sunday, urged the President of India Ram Nath Kovind not to sign the bills and send them back to Parliament for reconsideration.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, during the press conference, said that "What happened in Rajya Sabha today was saddening, unfortunate and shameful. It is the responsibility of the ruling side to enable discussions in the House but it is also the duty of the Opposition to maintain decorum." "As far as I know, this has never happened in the history of Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha. This happening in Rajya Sabha is an even bigger matter. Attempts are being made to mislead the farmers on the basis of rumours. Rajnath Singh on Harsimrat Kaur Badal's resignation

Responding on the resignation of Harsimrat Kaur Badal from Union Cabinet, Rajnath Singh said that "There are some political reasons behind every such decision. I don't want to comment on why did she take this decision." -PTC News
