Relief for PSPCL as power demand dips due to rainfall in Punjab

Chandigarh, July 1: With the arrival of monsoon in Punjab and widespread of heavy rain across the northern region it has been a major relief for Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) as the overall power demand has been dipped to 7000 MW. Similarly, the production from both the 540 MW Goindwal Sahib Thermal units has been reduced to 300 MW. Rajpura thermal plant with 1400 MW electricity has been reduced to 670 MW. One unit of Lehra Mohabbat Thermal with a capacity of 920 MW was already shut down due to technical glitches and two more units were shut down on Thursday and the remaining one unit was also shut down on Friday morning due to declining power demand.
