Ranjit Singh murder case: Dera chief Ram Rahim, 4 others get life imprisonment
Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and 4 others get life imprisonment in connection with Ranjit Singh's murder case. The court had convicted the Dera head and four others on October 8.
The Special CBI court in Panchkula awarded life imprisonment to all the accused, including Dera Sacha Sauda's Gurmeet Ram Rahim and four others. A fine of Rs 31 Lakh has been levied on Ram Rahim and Rs 50,000 on the remaining accused.

The district administration has already imposed Section 144 in the areas surrounding the District Court Complex. With his, a gathering of five or more persons will not be allowed. Also, carrying any weapon including swords, lathi, stick, iron rod, etc, except for sheathed kirpans, has also been prohibited.
Earlier on October 12, the special CBI court in Panchkula had deferred the sentencing to October 18.

On October 8, Ram Rahim, Jasbir Singh, Sabdil Singh, Krishan Lal, Inder Sain were pronounced guilty in the Ranjit Singh murder case.
It may be recalled that Ranjit Singh was shot dead near his fields in Khanpur Kolian village of Kurukshetra district on July 10, 2002. He had reportedly developed differences with the Dera chief following the allegations of rape of Sadhvis.
Currently, the Dera chief is serving a 20-year jail term for raping two followers and has been sentenced to life for the murder of a journalist in 2002.
