Rail Roko Agitation in India: Indian Railways deploys additional companies
Indian Railways on Wednesday deployed 20 additional companies of Railway Protection Special Force across the country in the wake of the 'Rail Roko agitation' in India on February 18. Ahead of the Rail Roko agitation in India, the Indian Railways is focusing on Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. Indian Railways called for peaceful protests so as not to inconvenience passengers and further appealed to everyone to maintain peace. SYM, during the press conference on Tuesday, stated that it was expecting the ‘Rail Roko’ agitation across India on February 18 to be successful. The farmers have been protesting against three contentious laws i.e. Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, and Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
