Punjab Vigilance arrests ASI for taking bribe of Rs 4,000

Chandigarh, October 28: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), as part of its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, arrested Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Narinder Singh (831/Amritsar rural), posted at PSPCL anti-power theft police station, at Verka, Amritsar, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000. A spokesperson for the Punjab Vigilance Bureau the accused, ASI Narinder Singh, had been arrested following a complaint of Tarlochan Singh of Navi Abadi, Verka. The complainant approached the VB alleging that the ASI was an investigation officer in a power theft case registered against him. Punjab Vigilance arrests ASI for taking bribe of Rs 4,000 After verifying this complaint, a VB team from Amritsar unit laid a trap and the ASI was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 in the presence of two official witnesses. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the ASI at the VB police station, Amritsar. Further investigations are on.
