Punjab Covid Update: Punjab logged 444 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the active caseload of the state to 4,247. The state reported eight new Covid-19 deaths, with fatalities reported in Bathinda, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, Sangrur and SAS Nagar, according to the update by the Punjab government. Now the death toll in Punjab stands at 17,585. Meanwhile, the daily positivity rate in the state was recorded at 1.50% on Saturday. SAS Nagar (80) reported the highest number of Covid cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Jalandhar (58) and Pathankot (40). On Saturday, a total of 29,511 tests were conducted. The cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Punjab are 7,55 234. Furthermore, a total of 1,111 new Covid-19 patients were discharged from the hospital in the last 24 hours, updated the ministry. Talking about the vaccination drive in Punjab, around 1,83,799 people were administered the first dose of the Covid vaccine, while 1,39,980 individuals were given the second dose. The number of precautionary doses given on the day is 8,749. With this, the cumulative number of the precautionary dose given in the state soared to 3,35,885. As the number of daily covid cases gradually decrease in the state, the Punjab government has decided to ease several coronavirus restrictions. However, Wearing masks by all persons in public places, including workplaces etc. is mandatory and must be strictly observed and enforced. Social distancing ie a minimum 6 feet distance for all activities shall always be maintained.
