Punjab reports 2,022 new cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours

Chandigarh: Amid rising cases of coronavirus and Omicron, Punjab on Thursday reported 2,022 new cases of Covid-19 taking the infection tally 6,11,102. Among new cases of Covid-19, Patiala reported 687 cases, SAS Nagar 364, Jalandhar 294, Ludhiana 292, Pathankot 187, Amritsar 131, Hoshiarpur 116, FG Sahib 78, Gurdaspur 71, Bathinda 45, and Moga 22. Also Read | India logs 90,928 new Covid-19 cases; Omicron tally rises to 2,630 Likewise, Ropar reported 22 new cases, Kapurthala 20, Ferozepur 18, Tarn Taran 18, SBS Nagar 15, Faridkot 13, Sangrur 13, Barnala 10, Fazilka 9, and Mansa 2. Among new recoveries, Amritsar reported 1, Faridkot 5, FG Sahib 2, Gurdaspur 1, Hoshiarpur 3, Jalandhar 43, Kapurthala 9, Ludhiana 5, Moga 3, Pathankot 24, Patiala 14, Ropar 1, SAS Nagar 5, and SBS Nagar 5. The new deaths include one from Barnala, one from Gurdaspur 1, Ludhiana 1, Patiala 1, SAS Nagar 1. On the other hand, Delhi continued to witness a surge in the Covid-19 cases as the national capital reported 15,097 fresh cases of the infection in the last 24 hours pushing the positivity rate to 15.34 percent. According to the bulletin issued by the state health department on Thursday, the number of active cases in the city stands at 31,498. The total count of cases has now gone up to 14,89,463.
