Punjab regularises services of 9,000 contractual teachers; notification issued

Mohali, October 7: In a historic decision, the AAP-led Punjab Government on Friday issued a notification to regularise the services of at least 9,000 contractual teachers in the state. On the occasion of Teacher's Day on September 5, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had announced to regularise the services of 36,000 contractual employees. Fulfilling its commitment, CM Bhagwant Mann on Friday issued a notification to regularise the services of 9,000 contractual teachers in the first phase. Notably, in September first week, the Punjab Cabinet had given a nod to a policy framed for regularising the services of contractual, ad hoc, daily wage and temporary teachers, who have completed 10 years of service. The beneficiary employees would continue in service till 58 years of age and would be treated as fresh appointees.
