Punjab Municipal Election 2021: Voting for General Elections begins
Punjab Municipal (MC) Election 2021: The voting process for the General Elections of 8 Municipal Corporations and 109 Municipal Councils and Municipal Panchayats in Punjab has started on Sunday. The voting will take place from 08.00 am to 04.00 pm on Sunday. People are standing in queues to access their vote for Punjab MC Election 2021. As per the official Spokesperson of the State Election Commission (SEC), 30 IAS/PCS officers have been deputed as Observers to conduct free and fair elections. Also Read | Onion Price Hike in India: No hope of getting relief till March Likewise, IG/DIG level officers have also been appointed as Police Observers i.e. IPS Mukhwinder Singh Chinna has been deputed as observer for SAS Nagar, Roopnagar and Fatehgarh Sahib, besides this, Surjit Singh IPS for Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur and Pathankot, Baljit Singh Rathore IPS deputed for Bathinda, Mansa and Faridkot , Surinder Kumar Kalia IPS for Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala and SBS Nagar. The spokesperson added that the voting process would be conducted on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) while seven thousand EVMs have been arranged regarding the same. The Commission has appointed 20,510 employees for uninterrupted voting while around 19 thousand police personnel have also been deputed to conduct free and fair elections.
