Irked by govt failure in hooch tragedies, Cong leader quits
In a major development in Punjab Hooch Tragedy, the Congress District President of Tarn Taran, Manjit Singh Ghasitpur, has resigned from his post over the state government's failure that claimed over 120 lives in the state.
As many as 90 people died due to spurious liquor in Tarn Taran. In a shocking claim, Manjit Singh said that the state government couldn't keep its promise of making Punjab 'nasha-mukt'.
Under the nose of the state government, liquor mafia kept operated with impunity and people died, he said. Manjit also said that he tried to approach Captain Amarinder Singh to caution him about the situation. Also, he said that he met President of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, Sunil Jhakhar, but still no action was taken in the matter.
