Punjab elections 2022: PM Modi promises drug & debt-free 'Nawa Punjab' along with BJP’s allies
Jalandhar, February 14: Over a month after his Ferozepur rally in Punjab was cancelled, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday addressed his first public meeting in Punjab's Jalandhar at PAP grounds ahead of the Assembly elections 2022. He promised to build “Nawa Punjab” along with BJP’s allies by pulling the state out of the cesspool of drugs and debt Beginning his speech, he said: "I bow down to all gurus, I bow down from the land of Jalandhar to Goddess Tripuramalini, the deity of Shaktipeeth Devi." At the same time, he also remembered Pulwama martyrs on the third anniversary of the attack. Lashing out at the Charanjit Singh Channi-led Congress government in Punjab, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "I wanted to offer prayers at Tripurmalini Devi Shaktipeeth, also knows as Devi Talab Mandi, after this event, but the Jalandhar administration and the police said they will not be able to make the arrangements. This is the situation of the government here. But I will surely offer prayers at Shaktipeeth soon." He said Punjab needed a government that worked for the security of the country. "The history of the Congress proves that it can never work for Punjab. And whoever wants to work, it puts a thousand obstacles in front of them." He said the double engine government would work for the development of Punjab. Taking a dig at the Congress, PM Modi said, "During the 2014 elections...they (Congress) stalled my helicopter in Pathankot because their 'Yuvraj' (Rahul Gandhi) was going visit in another corner of Punjab."
He claimed that 23 lakh Punjab farmers are getting PM Kisan payment directly in their accounts. "Punjab has seen that we formed an SIT to probe the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, but Congress has always given the accused top positions in the party," said PM Modi during his Jalandhar rally. PM Modi urged voters to give him and the NDA a chance to set up a "Nawa Punjab". Notably, the Assembly elections in Punjab are due on February 20 and the result will be announced on March 10. -PTC News
