Punjab Elections 2022: Cong expels Satkar Kaur ahead of polls

Punjab Assembly Elections 2022: Just a day ahead of crucial assembly polls in Punjab, Congress expelled Ferozepur Rural MLA Satkar Kaur on Saturday. As per the order released by the All India Congress Committee, the MLA has been expelled for alleged anti-party activities. Notably, the party had denied Satkaur Kaur a ticket to contest the assembly elections. Congress has fielded former Aam Aadmi Party leader, Ashu Bangar from the constituency. Cong MLA Satkar Kaur expelled Bangar, who was also the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from Punjab's Ferozepur (rural) constituency, had resigned, saying it is being run like a private company by leaders from Delhi. While, on Thursday, Congress leader Kewal Dhillon was expelled from the party. Cong MLA Satkar Kaur expelled Notably, Punjab is all geared up for voting on February 20. According to the election commission, 117 assembly constituencies spread across 23 districts will go on polls from 8 am till 6 PM tomorrow. A total of 1,304 candidates, of which 93 are women, are in the race in the border state of Punjab. Earlier, the Election Commission had announced the voting on February 14, however, postpones it to February 20 in the wake of Guru Ravidas Jayanti.
