Punjab CM extends coronavirus restrictions, orders graded relaxations in state
Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday ordered an extension of coronavirus restrictions in the state to June 15 with certain relaxations, including the opening of shops till 6 pm and private offices to function at 50 percent strength. Meanwhile, the night curfew in Punjab will remain in force from 7 pm to 6 am on weekdays, including Saturdays, but regular weekend curfew will continue on Sundays, the Chief Minister said while announcing coronavirus restrictions in Punjab. Entry restrictions (negative Covid test/vaccination) for arrivals in the state have also been done away with. Sports training for national and international events has also been permitted and the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs has been asked to issue the necessary instructions and guidelines, which shall have to be strictly adhered to. Reviewing the Covid situation in Punjab, the Chief Minister said district administration may determine the opening of non-essential shops, including on weekends, on the basis of the local situation, while ensuring that crowding leading to spread of Covid are avoided.
