Jalandhar, February 11: The Jalandhar Sessions Court on Friday sent Bhupinder Singh Honey, nephew of Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, to judicial custody. The  case will now be taken up after 14 days. He was arrested for his alleged involvement in illegal sand mining and money laundering case. As per information, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has sought another seven-day remand of Bhupinder Singh Honey, but the court rejected the federal agency's remand application. Also read | Punjab elections 2022: Two transgenders, 93 women among 1,304 contesting candidates Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had got Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi's nephew Bhupinder Singh Honey's remand till February 8, though the agency had sought 14-day remand of Honey in illegal sand mining and money laundering case. The ED maintained that Honey remained non-cooperative through questioning. Later, his remand was extended for another three days. He was again produced in the court on Friday, which sent him to judicial custody. He said they had put forth their ground in front of the Judge and informed the court that Honey was suffering from Covid. All reports were also presented, he claimed. The advocate said Honey had been arrested in an FIR dating back to 2018. However, there was no involvement of Honey in that case, claimed Harneet Singh Oberoi.
