Weather Update: Rain is expected in several Punjab districts on Wednesday, and the Indian Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Chandigarh.

According to the meteorological department, light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and lightning are expected across Tricity (Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula) and surrounding areas on Wednesday. Rain is expected today in six Punjab districts bordering Himachal Pradesh: Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Patiala.

However, much of Punjab will remain dry in the next few days, with little difference in temperature.

Meanwhile, clouds have camped from Delhi to Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, causing many regions to experience significant temperature drops due to late-night rains. Late-night rains also caused waterlogging on Bihar and Jharkhand roads, severely affecting travel.

The weather department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall across Chhattisgarh, eastern Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha. Aside from that, heavy rains could persist across eastern Uttar Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, and parts of Bihar. In addition, heavy rains may continue in northern Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.
