Weather update: Heavy rain likely in parts of Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana; orange alert issued

Punjab weather update: Parts of Punjab are likely to witness heavy rainfall on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Chandigarh and parts of Haryana are anticipated to witness thunderstorms with moderate rain accompanied by lightning and gusty winds.

According to IMD Chandigarh, "Thnderstrom with moderate rain accompanied with Lightning, Gusty winds (40-50kmph) likely over the parts of Tricity ( Chandigarh, SAS Nagar (Mohali) & Panchkula) & adjoining areas during next 2-3 hours."

Meanwhile, "heavy rain very likely over parts of Patiala, S.A.S Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib and Rupnagar," the weather department added.

Orange alert issued in THESE states

Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh are all under an orange alert for July 3.

On Wednesday, Delhi is expected to receive moderate to heavy rain, as the national capital continues to deal with waterlogging in many areas following isolated rains on Tuesday. This morning, the Met Office predicted moderate to heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds.
