Transport Tender Scam: Jalandhar court sends former Punjab minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu to 5-day ED remand following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday in connection with the transportation tender scam.

The arrest is linked to a high-profile fraud case involving a tender worth Rs 2,000 crore.

Bharat Bhushan Ashu stands accused of participating in a multi-crore scam involving foodgrain transportation and labor cartage tenders during his tenure as the Food and Civil Supplies Minister in the previous Congress government of Punjab. During his term, allegations emerged that he was involved in a fraudulent transportation tender.

Earlier investigations by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) revealed documents pertaining to property worth about 1.5 crore rupees and resulted in the seizure of around 30 lakh rupees in cash.

Last year also raids were conducted at his residence and other locations related to this case.
