Safar-E-Shahadat Part 2: Guru Gobind Singh Jis Anandpur Sahib's departure to emotional partings at Sirsa | Watch Video
Safar-E-Shahadat Part 2: The sequence of events continued as Guru Gobind Singh Jis convoy departed Anandpur Sahib during the night of 6th and 7th Poh, progressing a short distance before encountering betrayal from the collective forces of hill states and the Mughals. This treacherous attack transpired during sacred 'Amrit Vela'.
According to historical accounts, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji instructed Bhai Jaita Ji and nearly 100 Sikhs to immediately engage the enemy. The valiant Sikh warriors fiercely confronted the combined forces, causing considerable damage to the opposing side. The Sikhs persisted in battle until they reached the Sirsa river, displaying unwavering determination against the opposition.
A fierce confrontation ensued on the banks of the Sirsa river amidst thunderous lightning, heavy rainfall and vigorous flow of the river. Sikhs exhibited exceptional bravery. Notably, a significant Sikh scripture, written by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, weighing approximately nine maunds (around 360 kg), was also submerged in the Sirsa river during this tumultuous period.
During the conflict, the 10th Guru, accompanied by his two elder sons, Baba Ajit Singh Ji and Baba Jujhar Singh Ji, crossed the Sirsa river with around 40 Singhs. Mata Gujri Ji was with her younger grandsons, Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji. Gurdwara Parivar Vichhora Sahib now stands as a poignant reminder at this site.
This concludes the narrative of Safar-E-Shahadat Part 2. Part 3 will illuminate the episode where Guru Sahib faced Chamkaur alongside his two Sahibzade and 40 Singhs, bravely standing against a colossal force of 10 lakh adversaries.
