Punjab Weather Update: Trees uprooted, roads blocked, power outage due to rain, thunderstorm in Punjab

PTC News Desk: A spell of heavy rain, thunderstorm uprooted electricity poles and trees which led to the road blockage in the wee hours of Thursday, leaving Punjab residents harried lot.

According to the weather report, several cities of Punjab including Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana , Patiala, Barnala, Bathinda, Ferozepur, Ambala, Karnal, Sirsa, Rohtak, Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Anupgarh experienced dusty storm with lighting and  rain.

In some cities of Punjab, residents had to sweat out due to no power supply for hours. The trees and poles lying on the roads blocked and disrupted the traffic. 

In some village areas of Punjab, heavy rain and thunderstorm also led to collapse of wall of house and retained wall of drain. 

Meanwhile, as per the reports overnight rain led to waterlogging on the inner roads in several cities across Punjab. 


As per the media reports, the Meteorological Department already issued alert for rain, thundershowers and gusty winds likely over several parts of Punjab and Haryana for the next two days. 

While the rainfall brought relief  to many people from the heatwave, it also caused damage to crops due to strong winds. The weather department has warned that speedy winds  may occur during this period.
