Weather Update | The Northern India part of the country remains under the grip of scorching heat with temperatures ranging between 44 and 47 degrees Celsius.
As per the Indian Meteorological Department, heatwave conditions persisted in Haryana and Punjab, with Abohar reaching a scorching 47.6 degrees Celsius.
In Punjab, Abohar experienced blistering heat, while Gurdaspur recorded a high of 45.5 degrees Celsius, and Patiala reached 45.2 degrees Celsius
Heatwave Alert in 13 states/UTs
As per the Indian Meteorological Department, the heatwave is expected to persist for at least three to four more days, which has issued a severe heat alert for 13 states and union territories.
The Indian Meteorological Department has forecasted a heatwave for the next four days in these states/UTs :
- Jammu and Kashmir
- Himachal Pradesh
- Punjab
- Haryana
- Chandigarh
- Delhi-NCR
- Uttar Pradesh
- North Rajasthan
- North West Madhya Pradesh
Additionally, severe heat conditions will impact the northern regions of Bihar, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh.
