Spike in stubble burning cases, Punjab registers 484 incidents on Diwali

PTC News Desk: In a biggest spike of the season, Punjab has registered 484 farm fire cases pertaining to stubble burning on Diwali. According to Punjab Pollution Control Board, Sangrur topped the state with 89 cases followed by Ferozepur reporting 65 incidents while 40 in Mansa and 36 cases in Fatehgarh Sahib were registered.
As many as 35 each were reported in Tarn Taran and Kapurthala, 33 in Patiala. As many as 29 incidents of farm fires were reported in Amritsar, 28 in Bathinda and 20 were reported in Gurdaspur. The tally of total cases has reached approximately 3000 mark. Besides, 219 incidents of residue burning were reported on October 29. Since October, significant rise has been recorded in the stubble burning cases and the number of crop residue burning cases are expected to rise as farmers are preparing to clear their field for wheat sowing.
