PTC News Desk: A meeting was held between farmer leaders and Punjab police following which the administration has given credence to release Jagjit Singh Dallewal. However the farmers will continue with their indefinite fast until demands are met.
Farmer leader Sarvan Singh Pandher said that although they have not spoken to Dallewal yet, however they have been informed that he is in sound health. He further said that, the Punjab government has accepted their demand and agreed to release Jagjit Singh Dallewal. He will join other farmers at Khanauri border and resume his fast unto death which will continue until their demands are met.
Earlier on Thursday, farmers had announced that they will launch a protest outside CM Mann's residence in Sangrur on December 1 against the detention of Jagjit Singh Dallewal. Now that the government has agreed to release Dallewal, the decision regarding December 1 will be taken afterwards.
Farmer leaders have declared that the ongoing agitation will not cease until their demands are met. They have adopted a resolute stance, announcing a “death fast” strategy, where any loss of life among leaders during the protest will be succeeded by another taking their place. This ultimatum gives the government 10 days to respond, failing which farmers plan to march to Delhi on December 6.
