PTC Web Desk: In response to the recent attack on advocate Husan Singh, lawyers across Punjab are observing a statewide strike on Wednesday. This marks the third time that the legal community in the state is halting work to demand justice. The incident is linked to the Amloh Nagar Parishad elections, where advocate Husan Singh was allegedly attacked in a life-threatening manner.

The attack occurred when advocate Husan Singh, a member of the Khanna and Samrala Bar Associations, was present at a polling station. Gurinder Singh, an AAP MLA, along with his brother and their accomplices, allegedly assaulted the advocate. It is learnt that the assailants hit the advocate with the butt of a revolver and attacked him with sharp-edged weapons, leaving him severely injured and hospitalised.

Lawyers have accused the police of failing to take action due to political pressure. Tejpreet Singh Atwal, president of the Khanna Bar Association, alleged that the police were avoiding action by citing their involvement in the Shaheedi Sabha event. Despite several appeals to Punjab's DGP and a meeting with the SSP, no FIR has been filed so far. Lawyers believe the lack of police action is due to political influence.

Lawyers in Khanna have been on strike for the past 31 days. Meanwhile, the MLA and his brother have denied the allegations, calling them baseless and part of a political conspiracy.
