Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit visits border areas across state
Purohit reviews border security, inflation, narcotics smuggling through drones
PTC News Desk: In a resolute effort to strengthen border security and combat the persistent challenges posed by infiltration and narcotics smuggling, Sh. Banwarilal Purohit, the Governor Punjab today paid a visit to the border village Dharamkot Randhawa near Dera Baba Nanak in district Gurdaspur.
The visit aimed to assess the existing security measures, understand the evolving threat landscape, and bolster the morale of the people residing in the border villages.

Accompanied by Chief Secretary of Punjab Mr. V.K. Janjua, DGP Punjab Mr. Gourav Yadav and other senior government officials, law enforcement agencies, and security forces, the Governor embarked on an extensive tour of the border districts. The tour covered several key locations where border surveillance and protection mechanisms are deployed.
During the visit of Dharamkot Randhawa, the Governor engaged in comprehensive discussions with security personnel, local authorities, and community representatives to gain valuable insights into the prevailing security situation. The primary focus was on examining the utilization of drone technology by illicit elements to facilitate cross-border infiltration and drug smuggling.
Expressing grave concern over these emerging threats, the Governor reiterated the commitment to ensure the safety and security of Punjab's border areas. The Governor emphasized the need for proactive measures to counteract the nefarious activities and preserve the integrity of the region.
Addressing the inhabitants of the border villages, Purohit applauded their resilience and acknowledged the critical role they play in maintaining the security of the nation. The Governor encouraged the residents to remain vigilant, act as the eyes and ears of the security forces, and promptly report any suspicious activities in their vicinity.
He underscored the importance of active community participation and collaboration between law enforcement agencies and local residents. The Governor called for a united front against the perpetrators of crime and urged the people to come forward with any information that could assist in curbing illegal activities.
He assured the people that their safety and well-being are of paramount importance and emphasized that no stone would be left unturned in providing necessary resources and support to strengthen border security operations.
On this occasion, the district administration also organized a special camp under Mission AaBAD at village Dharamkot Randhawa, during which the people were given the benefit of the welfare schemes of the government by various departments. Honorable Governor Punjab Banwarilal Purohit also reviewed the facilities provided to the people during the AaBAD camp. On this occasion, apart from the stalls of other departments, he also visited the stall set up by BSF. Governor of Punjab also appreciated the efforts being made by the district administration under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal.

On this occasion he was accompanied by Chief Secretary Punjab Government Mr. V.K. Janjua, DGP Punjab Mr. Gaurav Yadav, Additional Chief Secretary to the Governor Mr. K. Shiva Prashad, A.D.C. to Governor of Punjab Mr. Parambir Singh, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, SSP Batala Madam Ashwani Gotyal, ADC. (G) Dr. Nidhi Kumud Bamba, ADC (D) S. Manmohan Singh, SDM Amandeep Kaur Ghuman, Assistant Commissioner (G) Sachin Pathak, and other officers were also present.
