After Aam Aadmi Clinics, Punjab govt renames schools, adds 'PM Shri' before names
The move comes a day after AAP-led government in the state agreed to change the names of Aam Aadmi clinics and remove chief minister Bhagwant Mann's photo across the state.
PTC News Desk: Punjab's AAP government has now given a nod renaming schools of the state. The education department has issued directives to add PM Shri before the names of the schools and approving the renaming with immediate effect.
The move comes a day after AAP-led government in the state agreed to change the names of Aam Aadmi clinics and remove chief minister Bhagwant Mann's photo across the state. The decision was taken owing tot he fact that Punjab government has not recieved National Health Mission(NHM) Funds for the past 18 months. There are around 870 Aam Aadmi Clinics (AACs) in the state, of which names of approximately 400 such clinics will be changed as the process has almost begun. Additionally the photo of chief minister will also be remove from these facades.
In February 2023, the central government had stopped providing funds alleging that the state government has been utilising the funds for the branding purpose of Aam Aadmi clinics. Ever since AAP government had been accusing Union government over the non-release of NHM grants totaling Rs 650 crore and another Rs1,100 crore under special assistance by the Centre.
