PTC Web Desk: The Punjab Government has announced a set of stringent guidelines for playway schools to ensure the safety, well-being, and quality education of young children. These rules aim to standardise pre-primary education across the state and enhance the learning environment for children.
Key directives
Recognition Requirement: Parents must enroll their children only in recognised playway schools
Teacher-Student Ratio: A single teacher is permitted to handle a maximum of 20 children
Secured Premises: Schools must ensure fully secured boundary walls for children’s safety
Play and Hygiene Facilities: Provision of play areas, clean drinking water, and separate toilets for boys and girls is mandatory
CCTV Installation: Surveillance through CCTV cameras is compulsory in all playway schools
Zero Tolerance for Abuse: Corporal punishment and verbal abuse are strictly prohibited by law
Parental Engagement: Schools must establish a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) to promote collaboration
Restroom Facilities: Dedicated restrooms for children are mandatory
Fire Safety Compliance: Schools must have a proper fire safety system in place
Ban on Junk Food: The consumption and sale of junk food within school premises are strictly banned
Ventilated Classrooms: All classrooms should be well-ventilated to ensure a healthy environment
No Parental Interviews: Conducting interviews with parents during the admission process is not allowed
