Chandigarh, October 31: With winter approaching, the Punjab government has changed timings of its schools with effect from November 1. Primary school will now open at 9 am till 3 pm whereas all middle, high and senior secondary schools will be open from 9 am to 3:20 pm. These new school hours are applicable from November 1 till February 28.

As per a letter issued by the education department, school hours for primary classes would be from 9 am to 3 pm, and for middle, high school and senior secondary schools until 3.20 pm.

As per reports, harsh winter is likely in 10 states , namely Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Telangana. As per the forecast, the temperature is expected to fall sharply between November 6 and 7 and the difference between day and night temperatures is expected to be 11 to 17 degrees.
