On average, 10 to 15 new dengue cases are being reported daily in the district, says Civil Surgeon
Punjab dengue update: Amidst the ongoing surge in dengue cases in Mohali, 15 new cases were reported on Saturday, bringing the total number of patients to 1,374. According to Civil Surgeon Dr Davinder Kumar, the health department has ramped up its efforts to combat the spread of the disease.
By Saturday, a total of 9,066 samples for suspected dengue cases had been tested, with 89 samples undergoing testing that day. Dr Kumar stated that both government and private hospitals have been instructed to remain vigilant and actively monitor for dengue cases.
Dr Kumar further said on average, 10 to 15 new dengue cases are being reported daily in the district. To control the situation, the administration has increased fogging operations and the spraying of anti-larvae chemicals. Additionally, house-to-house surveys for larvae detection are also being conducted.
Preventive Measures
To protect against dengue, Dr. Kumar has advised citizens to adopt the following precautions
Prevent the accumulation of water in and around homes, as stagnant water serves as a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
To minimise mosquito bites, wear long-sleeved clothing and pants.
Utilise mosquito nets while sleeping to protect against bites.
Avoid prolonged exposure to the smoke during fogging operations.
If symptoms like fever and body aches arise, consult a doctor immediately.
Dr Kumar urged the public to cooperate with the health department to control the dengue situation. He appealed to people not to ignore symptoms and seek medical treatment promptly. Additionally, maintaining cleanliness and ensuring that no water accumulates around homes are vital steps in curbing the spread of the disease.
