Punjab Budget 2023 LIVE UPDATES: Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Friday presented a Rs 1.96-lakh-crore full Budget for 2023-24. The Budget this year focuses on agriculture, education and health segments. He proposed an outlay of Rs 17,072 crore for school and higher education

Speaking in the Punjab Assembly, Finance Minister Harpal Cheema said education, health, and agriculture were among the priority sectors for the AAP-led Punjab Government.

Notably, the Budget session of the Punjab assembly began on March 3 and is taking place in two phases. 

The first phase will begin on March 3 and continue till March 11. The second phase of the Budget session will commence from March 22 and will continue till March 24.

The initial days of Punjab Budget Session witnessed uproar and heated arguments between the opposition leaders and ruling Aam Aadmi Party members. 

On the second day of the Punjab Budget session, there was a heated exchange between Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Opposition Leader Partap Singh Bajwa.


There was a ruckus in the house as the Congress MLAs demanded an apology from CM Bhagwant Mann over his “threatening posture” towards its members. 

Meanwhile, the parents of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, accompanied by Congress leaders, sat on a dharna outside Punjab Vidhan Sabha demanding justice for their son. 

On Day 3, as soon as the Chief Minister of Punjab arrived the House, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Waring, Leader of the Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa and other Congress MLAs boycotted the session and walked out of the house.

Fourth Day of Budget Session witnessed a stormy start as AAP and Congress MLAs exchanged heated words over the sharing of details regarding the cut in the security cover of VIPs, including Sidhu Moosewala, on social media allegedly by “key functionaries” of the AAP government days before his murder.
