PM Awas Yojana 2.0 to roll out in Punjab, financial assistance increased to Rs 2.5 Lakh
Eligible beneficiaries will be able to build two-room house | Scheme targets families with annual income of up to Rs 3 lakh
PTC Web Desk: The Centre is all set to launch the revamped Prime Minister Awas Yojana 2.0 in Punjab this month, bringing enhanced benefits for economically weaker sections. Under the revised scheme, the financial assistance for constructing houses has been increased from Rs 1.75 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh, benefiting lakhs of residents in the state.
Earlier, beneficiaries received Rs 1.75 lakh, with Rs 25,000 contributed by the Punjab Government and Rs 1.5 lakh by the Central Government. Now, the Punjab Government will provide Rs 1 lakh, while the Central Government’s contribution remains Rs 1.5 lakh.
The funds will enable eligible beneficiaries to construct a two-room house with a kitchen and a bathroom. The scheme aims to provide secure and affordable housing for those in need.
The scheme targets families with an annual income of up to Rs 3 lakh. Applicants must also own a plot of 45 square yards and not have availed of any housing benefits under Central or state schemes in the past five years.
The Prime Minister Awas Yojana continues to prioritise underprivileged and homeless citizens across India. It provides financial aid to those without a house, ensuring affordable housing solutions for millions.
