Phagwara accident: NRI youth, car driver dies in major road accident; woman critical
The accident took place as the car driver attempted to overtake a sugarcane-loaded tractor-trolley on a flyover on Phagwara highway
PTC Web Desk: In a tragic incident near the Civil Hospital bridge on the GT Road in Phagwara, a car collided with a truck after hitting the side of a tractor-trolley, leaving the car driver and an NRI dead. The mother of the NRI youth is in critical condition. Deceased Dilpreet Singh had been in Australia for 10 years and was returning home to reunite with his family.
The incident occurred when the family was travelling from Amritsar airport to Ludhiana. As they attempted to overtake a sugarcane-loaded tractor-trolley on a flyover on the Phagwara highway, the car collided with the side of the trolley and lost control. It then crashed into a truck coming from behind. Dilpreet Singh died at the scene. The police from Phagwara City Police Station have initiated an investigation, and an FIR has been registered based on the statement of the deceased youth's father, Harpreet Singh.
Harpreet Singh, a resident of 447-D Model Town Extension, Ludhiana, said his younger son, Dilpreet Singh, had been living in Melbourne, Australia, for the past 10 years. Dilpreet’s mother, Gurinder Kaur, had gone to Australia about a month ago, on November 13, to bring him back home.
