Punjab: Panic grips residents after explosion like sound heard outside Gumtala police chowki in Amritsar

PTC News Desk: An explosion like sound was heard outside Gumtala police chowki in Amritsar on Thursday. The exact nature of the blast remains undisclosed yet however reports suggest it could have been a carburettor blast.
Soon after the incident, heavy police force was rushed to the spot. Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said it was apparently an explosion in the radiator of car belonging to a cop.
"Because of previous instances, people thought it was a bomb blast, which is not the case," he said.
The incident was reported at around 8pm. Babbar Khalsa has claimed responsibility for the explosion.
In a spate of incidents with similar nature, this is ninth case that has been reported in the past one and a half month.
