Panchkula, July 9: Water level of Kaushalya Dam in Panchkula touched the danger mark on Saturday. Authorities opened two floodgates to release water and maintain a regular level.

Reportedly, 600 cusec water was released from Kaushalya Dam.

Kaushalya Dam has a maximum water storage capacity of 478 m.

If the water level exceeds this mark, the Kaushalya Dam administration begins releasing more water.

The water level in Kaushalya Dam reached full capacity on Saturday due to continuous rains in the region as well as hilly areas.

As a result, water was released late Saturday evening by opening two gates of the Kaushalya Dam.

Before the water was released, administrative officials were notified. People living near the Kaushalya Dam were also warned two hours before the gate opened by sounding sirens.
