PTC News Desk: At least two people died after multi-storey building collapsed in Mohali's Sohana on December 21. The excavation work of basement which was being conducted in the adjacent building led to the fatal collapse. 


The deceased have been identified as Drishti Verma, native of Theog in Himachal Pradesh and Abhishek who is a resident of Haryana's Ambala district. 


The video of the incident has been captured and went viral in no time. It took six seconds for the building to collapse and get flattened. The video shows that the building first tilted and immediately plunged  to rubbles. 



According to officials, a gym operated on all three floors of the collapsed structure, and it is believed that several people may be trapped under the debris. Almost 24 hours after the incident took place, the rescue operation is being carried out as several are feared trapped under the debris. 


A case under Section 105 of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (culpable homicide that does not qualify as murder) against the owner of the building and two others have been registered. The culprits have been absconding and police has launched a manhunt.
