Ludhiana BCM School accident: Principal arrested from Chandigarh

A seven-year-old girl, Amayra, was run over by a bus on school premises

PTC Web Desk: In a tragic incident at BCM School in Ludhiana’s Sector 32, a seven-year-old girl, Amayra, was run over by a school bus on Monday morning, resulting in her death. Following the incident, the school principal was arrested in Chandigarh on Saturday and brought to Division Number 7 police station for questioning. The arrest comes after days of protests from local parents demanding accountability.

The incident occurred when Amayra lost her balance while alighting from the bus, causing her to fall under the wheels. Despite being rushed to Fortis Hospital, she was declared dead. The police have filed a case of negligence against the principal, school management, and the bus driver, who remains in custody.

The tragedy has sparked outrage in the community, with parents accusing the school staff of locking the gates and hindering their access after the accident. Authorities have seized the bus involved and are investigating the incident further. The school principal, DP Guleria, confirmed the bus was privately owned and emphasized the school’s cooperation with the investigation.
