Ludhiana BCM School accident: Girl crushed to death by school bus inside campus
The girl’s family rushed to the school upon hearing the news and accused staff of locking school gates from inside
PTC Web Desk: In a tragic accident at BCM School in Ludhiana’s Sector 32 on Monday morning, a seven-year-old girl, identified as Amayra (7), was crushed to death by a school bus. The girl was taken to Fortis Hospital, where she was declared brought dead.
The victim was a resident of Bhamia Road. It is learnt that Amayra lost her balance while alighting from the bus, which led to the accident, though the reason behind the accident is still not clear.
The girl’s family rushed to the school upon hearing the news and accused the staff of locking the school gates from the inside. They alleged they were allowed entry only after a commotion.
The SHO arrived at the scene with a team to handle the situation and calm the protesting parents. ACP Sumit Sood confirmed that the incident took place inside the school premises and stated that the CCTV footage and bus details had been seized for investigation.
“The bus involved in the accident is private, not owned by the school. The driver and conductor are being identified, and their details are being traced through the transport office,” said ACP Sood.
Parents alleged that the school staff prevented other parents from entering the premises after the incident.
BCM school Principal DP Guleria clarified that the bus involved in the accident was private and not owned by the school. “The child lost balance while alighting and came under the tire. The bus driver and conductor are present, and we’ve handed over all documents to the police. We are fully cooperating with the investigation,” he said.
The police are investigating the matter.
