PTC Web Desk: The Jalandhar Rural Police have suspended five officials following allegations of negligence in handling public complaints. A departmental inquiry has been initiated against the police officials. The suspended personnel are ASI Avtar Singh, Constable Bikramjit Singh, Head Constable Bhupinder Singh, Constable Aryanpreet Singh, and ASI/LR Jaswinder Singh, as confirmed by the SSP, Jalandhar Rural.

Of the five suspended officials, three are station in-charges, while the remaining two are lower-level officials. Several of them had been absent from duty for extended periods. It is learnt that one of the officials had received multiple complaints from the public regarding drug-related issues but allegedly failed to act on them. There was also negligence in handling an accused caught during a CASO operation.

An ASI from Bhogpur police station was suspended for allegedly not fulfilling his duties properly, including misbehaviour at a checkpoint and allegedly pressuring a party into settling a dispute. Another criminal case emerged during this period. ASI Avtar Singh was suspended for allegedly failing to conduct a thorough investigation in a Section 307 case, which delayed justice for the complainants.

The SSP said the suspended officials failed to meet public expectations by not addressing complaints effectively.
