Jalandhar Police arrest MP Amritpal Singh's key aide, 3 others with illegal arms

The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police, under Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma, arrested four people, for their involvement in the smuggling of illegal weaponry, drugs, and extortion.

PTC News Desk: The Jalandhar Commissionerate Police, under Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma, arrested four people, for their involvement in the smuggling of illegal weaponry, drugs, and extortion. The arrested also include a key aide of MP Amritpal Singh, allegedly.

According to the Commissioner of Police, the racket was operating in the state and was planning a massive actin to threaten law and order in the state. 

The arrested accused have been identified as Lakhwinder Singh s/o Mohinder Singh, from Village Haibowal, PS Garhshankar, Hoshiarpur; Gurbhej Singh s/o Balbir Singh, from Village Gudara, PS Bajakhana, Ferozepur; Satinder Singh (alias Kala), son of Hardev Singh, from Village Palahi, PS Mehtiana, Hoshiarpur; and Bharat (alias Bhau), son of Mukhtyar, from Ward No. Barar Mohalla, Patti, Tarntaran. 

Swapan Sharma stated that Harshdeep Singh, who had previously been arrested, was well-known to Lakhwinder Singh, an infamous drug dealer with many criminal cases against him. 

The Commissioner of Police stated that Lakhwinder Singh had been selling drugs to Harshdeep Singh, who was also involved in the illegal weapon trade and had obtained them from Gurbhej Singh, a close aide of Amritpal Singh.

He stated that Gurbhej Singh had previously been in Kapurthala Jail in connection with the Amritpal case and the Ajnala police station attack case, where he met Lakhwinder Singh (alias Lakhi), who was already serving a murder case. 

Jalandhar Commissioner further added that the accused then began smuggling arms, ammunition, and drugs into various regions of the state, and that phone calls and messages between these individuals were discovered on their phones, showing that they were planning to carry out a plot to target their rivals.

According to the Commissioner of Police, FIR No. 253 was filed against the accused on October 19, 2024, under Sections 25-54-59 of the Arms Act and 21-61-85 of the NDPS Act at PS New Baradari, CP Jalandhar. He stated that they had seized 10 Cartridges of 12bore, eight 315-bore cartridges, and 100 grammes of heroin. Swapan Sharma stated that a further investigation into the situation is underway.
