Jalandhar encounter: Police arrest three members of Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang with arms and ammunition

PTC Web Desk: Jalandhar's Jamsher area turned into a scene of high drama this morning as an intense encounter broke out between the Commissionerate Police and members of the notorious Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang. The operation, led by Jalandhar Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma, resulted in the arrest of three gangsters of Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang and the recovery of a cache of weapons.

According to police sources, the incident occurred when a police team was conducting a weapon recovery operation based on the input of an associate from the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang. As the team reached the location, the gangsters opened fire in an attempt to escape. Approximately 15 rounds were exchanged during the encounter.

One of the gang members sustained a serious injury to his leg when the police retaliated. He was overpowered and taken into custody.

Following the encounter, the police recovered six pistols, live cartridges, and other incriminating items from the gangsters. The arrested persons are believed to be involved in heinous crimes, including extortion, weapon smuggling, and drug trafficking.

The operation was part of a larger crackdown on organised crime. Acting on his directives, the police team tracked down and apprehended key members of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang, which has been linked to multiple criminal activities across the region.

The injured gangster is receiving medical treatment under police custody, and further investigations are underway to unravel the full extent of the gang's operations.
