Heartbreaking: Student of Rajpura’s Chitkara University dies after drowning in flood water
Punjab flash floods: In a heartbreaking incident, a young engineering student lost his life after drowning in flood-like situation at Rajpura’s Chitkara University.
The deceased have been identified as Harish, resident from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, and had been pursuing his studies at the Chitkara University for the past two years.
According to the statement by police official, the incident occurred as a result of excessive water entering the university premises, causing panic among the students.
Harish, caught in the rising water, succumbed to the circumstances and drowned.
Meanwhile, brother of deceased Harish claimed that they had spoken to Harish on the night of the incident, and he had informed the family about the rising water levels within the university. However, their subsequent attempts to contact him failed as his phone was switched-off.
Authorities have taken immediate action in response to the incident. A thorough postmortem examination has been conducted, and the body has been handed over to the family following legal procedures under Section 174.
The University officials expressed their deepest condolences to Harish’s family and assured full cooperation.
Meanwhile, authorities are closely monitoring the water management system on the university premises.
