For the first time in Chandigarh, 84 parking lots of the city will offer a free pick and drop service for the first 20 minutes
Chandigarh Parking | In a significant move to modernise the city's parking system, the Chandigarh administration has approved new parking rateS. These changes, announced on Thursday, will be implemented once the tender for the smart parking system is finalised this month.
Under the new rates and provisions, cash payments will incur an additional Rs 5 charge per slab. Additionally, all parking lots will offer a free pick and drop service for the first 20 minutes for the first time in the city, except for those near malls where the rates can reach up to Rs 70 for the first four hours.
UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit approved the new rate structure on Thursday.
New Parking Rates and Provisions
Additional Charges for Cash Payments
Individuals opting to pay in cash will incur an additional charge of Rs 5 in every slab. This move is likely to incentivize digital payments, aligning with broader trends towards cashless transactions.
Free Pick and Drop Service
For the first time in the city, 84 parking lots of the city will offer a free pick and drop service for the initial 20 minutes.
Monthly Passes
Monthly passes have been introduced at minimal rates of Rs 300 per month for underground parking and Rs 400 for surface parking.
Underground Parking Discount
A discount of Rs. 5 will be given in every slab, except for monthly passes for underground parking.
No extra charges by citizens from outside the tricity area
As per the decision taken by the administrator, no extra charges will be payable by citizens from outside the Tricity area.
