It’s after 2017 that the state has lost a chance to glass case its culture, tradition, and contribution to the freedom struggle. The state government had pitched three tableau ideas to the central government on the theme ‘India at 75: Freedom Struggle’ and Punjab’s contribution to the country as its sword arm.
The Ministry of Defense has also issued a list in this regard. According to which 23 tables have been approved. In which 17 states and 6 ministries including UT are included. However, it does not include the table of Punjab.
According to the information received, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat will be represented in the parade on January 26. But this time the tableau of Rajasthan Chhattisgarh and Himachal Pradesh including Punjab will not be witnessed.
Condemning the move, senior SAD leader Dr Daljit S Cheema took to the twitter and wrote, “Punjab is the sword arm of the country. It has a rich heritage, culture & a great history. It has immense contributions towards food needs of the country. But surprisingly its tableau is not being included in Republic Day parade. This is totally unjustified & needs to be reviewed.”
