Baisakhi 2023: Jathedar Gaini Harpreet Singh extends greetings on occasion, says there is ‘communal harmony’ in Punjab

Baisakhi 2023: Addressing on the occasion of Baisakhi, Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh congratulated Sikhs on the occasion of Khalsa Sajna Day. 

In his address, Giani Harpreet Singh conveyed that the situation in Punjab is fine and there is no instance of violence or aggression against the state. However, certain powers are working to portray wrongly Punjab but all sections of society are living with brotherhood.

Rejecting the communal tension in Punjab, he issued a message to Sikh community and devotees to fearlessly travel to the holy places across Punjab to celebrate Khalsa Sajna Day. 

He further added that when the law and order situation in Punjab worsened, various communities called Punjab as a “disturbed state”, but Punjab is peaceful and people prayed for peace in the state. 

The jathedar said the state authorities deployed a large number of security personnel around Talwandi Sabo and devotees were subjected to unnecessary checking and frisking.



“But it is heartening to see people are coming in large numbers. Devotees may be facing hardship due to checking by the police but they still are coming with devotion,” he addeed.

He said carrying a sword was an integral part of Sikh tradition, but a section was lobbying to prohibit it, adding, “Sikhs must keep swords to follow the religious tradition.” 

On the occasion, he appealed Sikh community to follow and learn the teachings and messages of Sikh gurus.
