Anandpur Sahib shocker: Sikh man killed amid clash during Hola Mohalla celebrations
Chandigarh, March 7: A Sikh man was killed in a clash at the ongoing three-day Hola Mohalla in Anandpur Sahib in Punjab's Rupnagar district on Tuesday.
The accused allegedly attacked the deceased with a sharp-edged weapon. Police have registered a case in the matter.
The main accused has been identified and is currently admitted to PGI Chandigarh. Reportedly, the accused's fingers were chopped off in the clash.
The deceased has been identified as Pardeep Singh of Gajikot village of Gurdaspur district. He was not a Nihang Sikh, as reported on social media, but he had worn the Nihang dress code, which is common during Hola Mohalla, police said.

Pardeep, a Canadian permanent resident (PR), had been in Punjab for two to three months and had come to Anandpur Sahib to pay obeisance during the Hola Mohalla festival, according to police.
According to police, the fight was between two people, Pardeep Singh and Niranjan Singh of Nurpur Bedi. However, it is believed that five to seven people were involved in the fight.
The main accused will be arrested as soon he gets discharged or becomes stable, said a police official. The reason behind the heated arguments between the duo which led to the clash is so far unknown.
