Amritsar: Family alleges negligence as girl dies after getting injection

PTC News Desk: As a result of sheer negligence on the part of the hospital authorities, a girl lost her life after she was allegedly administered wrong injections. 

According to the information received, the incident is of Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar where a girl who was bitten by a stray dog and developed rabies infection was admitted to the hospital.

Girl administered wrong injection? 

As per the statement of the family members, the hospital staff inoculated wrong injection, after which the girl fainted and died within few minutes. 

The deceased have been identified as Kiratjot Kaur, a resident of Gandiwind  village in Tarn Taran district of Punjab. 


After the hospital declared the child dead, parents of the girl demanded for the justice of their beloved daughter from the police administration and blamed the hospital authorities for the sheer negligence. 

Family claimed that the child was doing well before and all the tests conducted were also normal before she was given the injection. The victim’s family demanded that the case should be registered against the hospital staff who had administered the injection to the child.

On the other side, hospital administration said that, “the child was suffering from rabies and child passed away due to cardiac arrest.” Doctor further added that why the hospital administration would will give the wrong injection to the girl.

Police officer Kulwant Singh who is investigating the case said that, “We are thoroughly investigated the case by having the discussion with the senior doctors.”


Further investigation into the case is underway.
