An opportunity for countries that were not part of G20 process to share ideas and expectations through this mechanism
New Delhi, January 6: India is all set to host virtual 'The Voice of Global South' Summit on January 12-13. Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra on Friday said 120 countries would be participating in event.
Ten to 20 countries will be part of one session and two lead sessions would be hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Foreign Secretary said.

"We will be hosting a special virtual summit on January 12 and 13, that is next week. This summit will be called the Voice of Global South Summit under the theme Unity of Voice and Unity of purpose," Kwatra said during a special briefing.
"It essentially envisages bringing together countries of the global south and sharing their perspective and priorities on a common platform across a whole range of issues," he added.
This initiative is inspired by PM Narendra Modi's vision of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas'. It is also underpinned by India's philosophy of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,' Kwatra said.
Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra said this summit would be an opportunity for countries that were not part of the G20 process to share their ideas and expectations through this mechanism.

Kwatra noted that India had consistently championed the cause of the developing world and strongly articulated the concerns of the partner countries in the global south in all international fora and mechanisms. "This summit will also be an opportunity for countries that are not part of the G20 process, especially those countries which are not part of the G0 process to share their ideas and expectations through this mechanism with the G20," he said.
Kwatra said the Voice of the Global South Summit was India's endeavour to provide a common platform to deliberate on concerns, interests, and priorities that affect developing countries.
